There's manipulations by people who are way smarter than humans. Also aboard are a handful of variously modified humans and a fugitive "vampire. In fact, I'm not sure I understood the ending of the book at all If you've never read Watts, a word of warning: Descriptions of topography are confusing and unhelpful yet abundant. They're hardly one or two dimensional, and they definitely don't match up with anything remotely social.

It might help to know the definition of the The novel is surprisingly easy to place in the taxonomy of great science fiction. But he awakens one night to find himself at the center of a storm that will turn all of history inside-out.

Unfortunately for us, every species likes to play god, and let's not forget the alien species that still makes me shiver in delight and awe. And, at least if you liked Blindsight, this is a very entertaining read with a lot of the same appealing features.

I thought I would be going into Echopraxia with two strikes against me. Echopraxia is set in the same world as Blindsight.
